I can sympathize with you. My primary computer will sometimes crash out of the blue as well. Yesterday it died on me while I was doing some video editing. While I was testing the splice where I had just cut a commercial out, the audio suddenly started buzzing; the screen went blank; and it rebooted on me. The other weird thing it does on me is sometimes when I reboot it loses the mouse. Of course, the cursor shows up on the screen, but no matter how much I move the mouse around, nothing happens. Another reboot usually clears it. I blame most of my problems on XP PRO 64. I probably should break down and get Win7, but that costs $$$, of which I am in chronic short supply. WINNING!!!

Am I the only one going through these new WUs in a quarter of the normal time? My quad system (newly resurrected and relocated) spits them out VERY fast. But then it's higher powered than anything else I've got. It's hard to tell sometimes because the WUs take different times to run. Some go fast, others--not as fast. One other issue with this batch is that I'm waiting on my wingmen to return their WUs so it can validate (or not).

Agreed, they run quite quickly and don't seem to error or get zero credit. But most of then are pending ATM.

Agreed, they run quite quickly and don't seem to error or get zero credit. But most of then are pending ATM. The validator is not running for some reason. I have a system that's been sick and I don't want to run a bunch of WUs through it just to have them error out...I need feedback on whether it's fixed. With MCN not validating I don't have feedback. It looks like E@H is acting the same way, but the problem there is that my wingmen are being slow.

I do not expect this situation to change before the next w#%k day. Right now I'm uncertain whether to leave BOINC running on that system and take a chance on sending back garbage, or leave it running and hope for the best. I DID move it to a cooler location and it stayed up overnight...we'll see.

I do not expect this situation to change before the next w#%k day. If you return garbage it just means the units will go back out ot someone else, that means the same units will go to more people and more of us will be able to crunch for Malaria. Winning!

If you return garbage it just means the units will go back out to someone else, that means the same units will go to more people and more of us will be able to crunch for Malaria. The task info pages say that the WUs crunched were completed successfully. Even if the results are not scientifically valid, there were no computing errors. That being the case we should all get credit consistent with our systems' performance. ____________ ![]()

Agreed, they run quite quickly and don't seem to error or get zero credit. But most of then are pending ATM. I'm seeing some variation on the same komputa. It show 4 kompleted with times of 00:33, 00:20, 01:42 and 01:42 (HH:MM). Some run kwick and some longer. i'm home again. I expected maybe 3-5 hours to move komputa.s I ended up spending 12. 6am to 6pm. good thing i went in early. But my work space is all ready to go. I've got all the komputa's running and my work kounter is klear. I even ended up with a whole kabinet unused. I've still got some stuff to move, but some of the other kabinets and kloset are not fully stuffed yet either. Most importantly is the koffee maker has power ready to go on monday. It did churn out 5 kups today. There's a lot of little stuff to sort out and find places for. I'll probally end up taking some old komputas to recycling. There are 3 single core machines which are good for win98 only. I may keep those as spares we still have 3 of thosse running various things. But the other, one single core Pentium, three 486's, one 386 and one 286 i think i'll just scrap. Part of those were our original netware network. Some of them haven't been used in at least 13 years. I won't miss them at this point. Oh well, now being stuffed with pizza, its time for a knap.

The time depends on how new the Komputer is?

The time depends on how new the Komputer is? Yes, but the times I gave are all for the same komputa ? When i checked again it had some more added to the last list, like another 00:20 and 01:42. Today it now shows (again HH:MM) 01:15 01:41 01:31 01:27 00:32 00:11 01:14 I assume this variation depends on the new parametrs they use. Some parametrs cause it to end early> My guess is the task fails, not in errors, but in the intended usefulness of that set of parameters so it stops running as continuing would not produce any more useful result, which is a good thing so it does not waste our time. I kind of figured it out by looking at returned results. It seems they can set a max number of allowed infections. When the ttask reaches this it stops, a few went over. Then it gives a percentage prevented with seven decimal places. The short ones showed 0%. So my guess is the paramaters fed in are not effective, and it runs much faster as it does not kompute any preventions. I would think the more effective, the longer the task is going to take because as time goes along these effects branch out, like a tree. the more braches the long it takes to kompute. the ones with 0% never go anywhere. it's not a waste of time, it finds what does not work. OK -- Speaking of not working, that's me for today. Everything aches, except my karpal tunnel wrist. I didn't do any large amount typing yesterday. I was very kareful in moving stuff to pickup all the heavy ends with my right hand, and kare more heavy thing in my right. If i karried stuff in my left it was light or i put things on my arm. I tried to save from burning it out again. It had been much better until i did sometihing in February, I forget what. I Had to wear the wrist brace at work to keep from beniding it, but only for maybe two weeks and then another two weeks just as a precaution not not all day. But over the past 4 months it has gotten better again. This is one of the things i'm kounting on with the new arrangement. A better work space, typing area. I kan sit or stand at my station. But also my new duties to help kheckout kustomers, will force a break in my other work, and that will be not as much typing. One thing i had to give up was my desk chair, i've had that one at least 13 years. I don't remember if we brought it with us or I bought it once we got here back in 1997. It has a 25 year warranty. Simple chair with no arms, no reclining, but it was adjustable up and down some for a desk, not a high kounter. But the one chair out there is almost the same, only higher for the kounters. Anyway the staning up part will help when i do shipments. I had to sit and do some typing, then get up and stick stuff in a box, then sit and type a little and repeat for each box, then get up and label them. Theres a lot of get up and sit down in there. Now i kan do it all while standing, thus saving my knees some strain. I'll only sit when i have a lot of other paperwork to process not related to shipping. I have to finish moving in and organizing, but sometime after that i'll take some photos of my new space for ya'll I had planned to sit out and get some sun today, darn, its drippin'g rain. Good for the plants but the rain buckets aren't fillin' up. I emptied one and in an hour it's caught half an inch, and it is on the drip line off the roof. Pretty light rain. Time for some more koffee and then ....

It POURED here yesterday afternoon and then a little last night, today it is supposed to get up to 90F and be VERY muggy. I just went out to shoot at a squirrel and it is muggy already! The squirrel ran as soon as I went outside and then ran faster and farther when I started shooting at him. I am still using the plastic pellets that can't really hurt him if I did actually hit him. Mostly I just get close and he gets scared and runs off. I did hit one in the butt the other day and he did jump and run much faster! That makes me the WINNER!! ____________ ![]()

I spent most of yesterday working on two major projects, and away from the computer. Isn't HD soooo much fun?! I have 2 HD tv's, the downstairs one only has one hdmi input so I had to get a 3 hdmi in to 1 hdmi out box for it. I now plug the cable tv, roku box and the dvd player into the box and then one cable into the tv. Upstairs I have a newer tv and it has 2 hdmi inputs, so I just ran the cable tv and the dvd player in to the tv directly. I bought the dvd player on sale and it is upconverts the dvd to hd output on its own. So if I put in a lower quality dvd it auto upgrades it to the highest watchable quality, pretty cool. The 3 into 1 hdmi box has a remote control so you can sit across the room and switch inputs, my wife loves that. Going to HD cable was something we did several years ago so the costs are built in now and imo worth it. But would be something we would cut if forced to although it really isn't that much, like $5.00 a month per tv. As for winning I am WINNING right now!!

I have one HD cable box right now for recording shows on the PC. I had originally hoped that, by buying a HD TV card for the PC that I could record HD quality out of the HD cable box...nope, only coax or component input into the TV card. The HD part of the card apparently was to allow viewing QAM feeds off an antenna...can't even get HD coming off a coax from the cable box. I need to look at the back of the cable box and see if it has an HDMI output jack (you would think it should). If that's the case, I'll upgrade the standard box for the TV to HD, then look for a DVD player that has HDMI output. Problem is, I want one that allows for multiple CD/DVDs in the tray. The one I have now has a carousel with 5 slots available. I don't have any idea how much $$$ that will run me. The premium for a HD cable box over standard is about $7/mo. from Comcast. Maybe they'll give me a discount on the second HD box since I already pay for the HD service...(dream on sucker). WINNING?

Rain is good, we got none. Very little since April 1st. My barrels are empty. I've used up the inch in the two buckets. I've got different size buckets, i get them from the recycle center. They are what other people leave, like chlorine or some other chemicals come in, I don't get the ones kat stuff komes in as they are not round and have cheap handles that break. I've got some that hold like 9 gallons, which is getting a little too heavy for me to lift and carry very far. I keep two on the porch, after i water the palnts i fill them back up. It takes about one and a kwarter just to do the vegetables whcih I do every day. Sometimes they are bone dry, those things are drinkin' like a fish or maybe Mikey :) Just kidding Mikey. ITs easier to fill the bucket and then dip my water kan into it, that way I can put the hose on slow fill and it refills while I water. Saves time instead of me standing there waiting for the water kan to refill and its easier than lugging the hose around even if I make five trips back to the bucket.

Third straight day of clouds and rain, unusually cool too. Lots of MC to crunch. And now you are sending it my way, THANKS!! It is only 71F ourside but it is like 70% humidity!! It is supposed to rain this morning and then again tomorrow but be sunny and then hot on Thursday and Friday again. I saw a squirrel on my deck eating a tomato yesterday!! I was so fast getting out there he jumped off the deck and landed on the ground, over 10 feet down. He then ran into the bushes to hide but I started shooting at him and he ran away. Yes I have green tomatoes about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in diameter already with many, many flowers getting ready to turn into tomatoes! The hot peppers are still in the teeny, tiny stage and are barely even visible, hmmmm! I may have to get my trap back out and make the squirrels make new friends! And Keith I do drink alot but it is mostly iced tea I make in my iced tea maker. I make a batch every day or 2 and then carry around a water bottle full of it all day long. I am now WINNING!!

Third straight day of clouds and rain, unusually cool too. Lots of MC to crunch. I never liked ice tea that much unless its from long island. Regular hot tea is ok but not a big hit. I do drink some at work in the afternoon about once every month. I need to increase my doseage. I was thinking on your pepper problem. Well more the squirrel problem. I also planted some hot peppers, but just for fun. The plants are doing good, but no flowers yet. Same for any new regular bell peppers I put in. On the other hand ones I kept barely alive inside over the winter, are huge, full of leaves and fruits. I've already eaten two small ones, on that fell off during a storm and one because I wanted one. I picked another small one yesterday that turned yellow, but its got a lot of black on it around the joints, as its probally rotten. But there are at least a dozen more, some good sized and then also another couple dozen little pea sized ones starting and more flowers. The biggest is getting close to the size of my fist. Not too fat, but rather tall and it grew upside down. I've got a couple more upside down. There are so many plants, some of the peppers on the short plants don't have room to fall over and grow down. I'm hoping a few more might start turning colors. I've got a pizza to make with a sample crust yeast sent to me by the kooking klub i below to. I might just have to pick a green one. So back to the point, Mikey, You need to start the peppers way earlier or try to keep some alive inside over the winter. Thing is all mine are in pots ready to bring in. Ya kan't do that with a ground garden.

Third straight day of clouds and rain, unusually cool too. Lots of MC to crunch. You mean you WERE winning... I pulled the cover off my quad system and blew the dust out of the cpu heatsink. The temps went from 162F down to 145F almost immediately! I've had the better part of a week with cloudy skies, occasional rain, drizzle, or thunderstorms; but mostly just cloudy with intolerable humidity. No relief due for another 2-3 days. And then (Friday/Saturday) it's back into the oven with temps near or above 90F, but hopefully a little less humidity. Keith, I know you think 90F is pretty much nothing, but up here it's August weather...in June??? WINNING!!!

Third straight day of clouds and rain, unusually cool too. Lots of MC to crunch. I have mine in pots but they are half whiskey barrel size, so not too portable. I did start them indoors in January but by the end of April they had pretty much all died out due to needing to be repotted, etc, etc. I will start my seeds later next year and get some grow lights too. This is my first year starting them from seeds on my own, my mother-in-law did them last year and she started them too late, so I tried doing it earlier. I need to find a happy medium. And Randy I AM WINNING, again!

...or above 90F, but hopefully a little less humidity. I like it hot, bring it on. Mikey, I've got one big pot, like about half a barrel size, but it is a plastic pot, no whiskey came in it <wink> <wink>. I had to take like 4 inches of soil out of it as it was too heavy for me to lift and carry in. Oh I survived another day of work barley. My back is acting up. I over worked it this weekend and daily work aggrivates it. Another weekend of rest will do it good if I can make it taht far. Well i've almost finished emptying out my old office space. I've got two more desk drawers and then a bunch of komputer parts and extension cords in the second desk. Then what is left is mostly junk, old komputas, printers and gadgets that may not be worth saving anymore. I don't think they'll ever be put back into use, especially since i haven't used any of that stuff in 13 years. A bunch of things like serial and parrall auto switches and a fax box and some old special keyboards. since most all printers now are usb, they're not much good. Today i had to work on one of the komputas. Saturday when i moved it and set it up it worked fine. Then monday when i game in the screen had the jitters. But oldly if you brought up the monitor's on screen menu, it was stable, telling me it was something in the komputa or kable maybe. Wiggling the kable and unplugging, replugging did not good. I tried something else simple first before opening up the kompa, like changing the video kable. That fixed it. My guess is it was an old kable and kould not handle the bandwidth of newer komputa's, even though this is a 6 year old komputa. I've gotta put a ice pack on my back for a while. Keep trying to win while i relax and deep freeze myself.

I just got done vacuuming out my box, I had no idea that dust could make that big of a difference in the temps. I had noticed that they had been higher lately but I'd just put it down to warmer ambient temperatures. This is one lesson I'll only need to be taught once.

It's surprising how dusty the boxes get. I do mine about every 4 months (lots of dust). But, the evedience points to once every 2 months would be better. John having pets that shed does add to the problem. I bought a compressor a few years ago and use it for exactly the same thing but do not have my pc's on a schedule. Keith I too use fake plastic whiskey looking barrels. It is raining this morning, I wonder if my new furnace guy is going to come? I have a company that every time they come tries to sell me something. I was talking to my neighbor and he said that the company he used did not do that, they are scheduled to come out this morning and if I like them I will cancel the old company. I have a contract with the old company but all it guarantees me is a $13.00 a month credit card charge and a hassle every time I call them. The very first time they came out they sold me a capacitor for my heat pump for when the power goes out and comes back on. Apparently it helps start it up so the load is less. Anyway every guy that came after that has tried to sell me a capacitor! The last guy did that and I was so tired of telling them I already had one I said 'show me where it goes', he opened the cover on the outside part and said 'oh you already have one' and I said 'you really looked didn't you!' Obviously he didn't oil it either because that involves taking the cover off!!! Swiftmallard be careful vacuuming because static electricity can build up and short out your pc! That is why most people use compressed air to blow it out instead. Most older vacuums can be switched to blow instead, but I have not seen that on the newer ones. A shop vac of course can do both. All this means I am now WINNING!!

Since I supposedly know what I'm doing (...don't try this at home...I'm an "expert"...ha!), I just removed the cover and pointed the straw from the can of air at the fins of the heatsink and blew it out. Need to be extra careful doing that on the cpu heatsink. If you try to blow thru the fan you might cause it to stop (temporarily or not???) or overspeed and that could be trouble.

I download 71 Windows updates and I had to install the ATI software twice but it got seen by Boinc and both cpu and gpu units downloaded perfectly!! Boinc is now shutdown AGAIN because Windows XP SP3 is installing and it takes so long all by itself I didn't want Boinc to be slowing it down. I am DEFINITELY WINNING now!! WOO HOO!!!
It looks like this batch of test WUs is winding down. I still have a few left but am plowing right thru them. Mine will all be gone soon. Keith YOU are getting old!
Gee thanks, with remarks like that you're surely not going to win this game. I know i'm getting old, at least my body is, my mind still thinks i'm 21 as I havn't had a birthday since then. Oh wait, there was one by my kayak klub, so i guess i'm 22 now. But i've had these injuries a long time. My knees go back to when i was under 18. My back was hurt sometime in my upper 20's. The wrist took a while to develop a problem but its been there 15 years or more. it comes and goes. Oh did i also mention i broke my fore finger on my left hand once long ago. its mostly straight. That doesn't help as i have poor grip in that hand. If i krack my nuckles, i can't usually do that one, although I remember doing it once in the last 10 years. it just won't pop like the others. Actually todays pains have little to do with age, its more the fact that i became too much of a desk jockey. That is also one more reason i wanted to move out of the back area. As now i have a reason to walk around and stand up when i'm helping kustomers. i need to go out and water the veggies again, then i'll take a knap.

My kruncher just died. The one i was having problems with and had changed the mobo and memory. I had just watchedd part of a dvd, then stopped that and walked away and it rebooted and acted like there was no ahrd drive. I turned it off after the third reboot told me to insert a boot device. It will stay off a while, but that also means my gpu won't be a krunchin'. I'll fool with it on saturday. maybe that reinstall of winderz will come sooner than planned.

Lots off dead tree branches came down, but nothing worse. The storm cell that hit me looked terrible during the approach. Radio weather says all that stuff should dissipate before it reaches me. Today's forecast is for sunny and near 90F temps. Same for tomorrow, but slightly cooler for Father's day. My quad system is idle--out of work. It still crashes running E@H. I'm going to restore my C: drive from the backup I made just after I did my reinstall, then do a full rebuild of BOINC; cleaning out all existing files and starting from scratch. I suspect my gpu card is having issues as well so I'll pull it out and reseat it and give the fan a good cleaning. WINNING...if I could get a few WUs.

Lots off dead tree branches came down, but nothing worse. The storm cell that hit me looked terrible during the approach. My local news pointed all that out and I am glad it turned out to be nothing for you!! Keith I was teasing, I hope you knew that!! I too am getting old, I am 57 1/2 years old now and take a handful of pills everyday! I also take a Vicodin every day because of the wear and tear of being a firefighter for parts of 4 decades did to me. I am 6 feet tall and weighed 200 lbs when I was as skinny as a rail, which was almost never! Normally I weighed in the 225 to 250 range and when a couple of Washington Redskins football players moved into a place across the street from one of the fire stations I was working at, they asked me what team I played for! All that meant that I could do just about anything I wanted to and often got the jobs carrying the big, heavy stuff by my self. I am now paying for it, I retired because of 2 foot surgeries, one on each foot but my ankles, knees, hips, back, elbows and shoulders are in a fairly constant state of imminent pain. If I do the wrong thing a whole lot of me just hurts! I am not complaining, life was good and I had alot of fun and for the most part loved going to work every day! I am just paying the piper now, getting old is not fun!! Keith I hope you get your cruncher back up and running soon! I am now WINNING!

Winning, while I try and keep ahead of Mikey. One new ATI gpu up and running and I am now just waiting for an Nvidia card to finish its work so I can install the next one. The first is already giving out more than 2,500 RAC on its own, and it has only been running for 24 hours! It should get up near 20,000 or so per day when it is running full speed. Looks like you did all night. I survived... I got up and surveyed the damage. I may or may not post a pic(s). Lots of small branches, twigs and leaves all over the place. I went in the backyard and looked at the deck. Uh-oh...the patio table and a couple of chairs are knocked all over the place. But where is the table umbrella? Oh! THERE it is...upside down in the shallow end of the pool! I had to reach in, crank the top down (it was left up yesterday afternoon), and then drag it over the side of the pool by grabbing the pole on the top of the umbrella. Then, dripping and splashing, I put it back in the hole in the patio table. WINNING!!!

Ooops! It is Sunday morning here too! How about that, I MUST be WINNING!! Keith I hope you wiped or drilled holes in those old hard drives, you wouldn't want any data to get in the wrong hands, even old, old, old data. A hammer would work too, just smash the heck out of them and they are worthless except to someone with more money than common sense! I had to chase a squirrel off my deck again yesterday, he was just a young one though and I scared him pretty good and I am not sure he will come back. My tomatoes are now over 7 feet tall, no red ones yet though. My hot peppers are over 2 feet tall and still have lots of flowers and still teeny tiny little peppers on them. I found more holes in the ground where the chipmunks are living, time to pour some gasoline down the holes today! I went to the game last night and several players are new, seems the guys we got used to seeing got promoted to a higher level. I guess that is a good thing. The local guys still won last night but they wee playing the last place team, so it doesn't mean as much as it should have. We are in the Carolina League and there are 2 groups, the Northern and Southern. We are in the Northern group and in 3rd place. Last night they played the Lynchburg Hillcats and they are in last place in the Southern group. Here is the stats page if you are interested http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=l_sta&lid=122&period=h1&sid=t436 The owner of the team is the first base coach, pretty cool. He also bought a new scoreboard at a cost of half a million dollars and after some tense negotiations got it installed. Seems the park they play at is owned by the local County and not the Team. So the County said thanks for donating the new scoreboard, the owner said NO I want a new place to play and I want to take the new scoreboard with me when it happens. The County said no way! Well it seems in the end the scoreboard went up and if they get a new stadium it will go with the Team to it. But there are no current plans to build a new stadium. There were plans before the recession but they are on hold with nothing even on the horizon of it happening anytime soon!! The new scoreboard is VERY NICE!! About once every other month they have a Scout Night where the local Scouts, Boy and Girl, come in and get to watch the game and then afterward camp out overnight on the field and watch a movie on the screen. It is soooo much nicer with the new scoreboard, they can actually see the movie now!! The weather is supposed to be in the 90's today, tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday! Thanks Randy!!! There is supposed to be some rain on those days too, I am guessing the afternoon thunderstorm variety due to the heat. ____________ ![]()

Mikey, I never made it to recycling. It only takes one little piece to get to used and the company could be liable for all damages! I'm also working on fixing the other two up, they fit under the stairs, but i need some kind of platform to put them on. At least a buckets height, so i kan put buckets under the taps. I though maybe if i could get some more buckets i kould turn them upside down and put the barrels on top of them. Keith remember water weighs 8 1/3 pounds per gallon, that is alot of weight to put on some buckets. You might want to consider some cinder blocks or some very sturdy to use instead. [quote[Let me go brave the outdoors again, i'm showing 93F
It is already HOT here and it is only 6:30AM!! It is 73F going to a high around 91 or so and it is HUMID!!! Randy I hate it when memory does that! There is no reason for a solid state thing to go bad but they just do sometimes. MicroCenter shouldn't give you any problems returning it, especially since you are going to buy another!! But without a receipt it might be tougher. Now that I am not working my local MicroCenter is not as close as it was, it is now about an hour away, where as when I was working it was only 15 to 20 minutes from work! John remember I was having video card installation problems, well both are now up and running and my RAC is increasing nicely!! I ended putting both in different Windows XP machines, but they work just fine. Today my overall Boinc RAC is at 308,923 and still increasing!! If Collatz would come back online I could at least turn in my waiting credits, they have been offline now for several days! All my gpu's are now at DNETC and they are not as friendly towards Nvidia cards. That makes me the WINNER!!

Seems this was just in time before Collatz had further problems with their ISP. At least, before they went down, that seemed to be the story I got from Slicker's posts. I have a day's Collatz WUs on 1 GPU ready to crunch, and will have to do so soon before they go "out of date". As a result of moving to MW my RAC is slowly rising. I Kan't do MW, my GPU's are not that expensive. Me either for the same reason. Then I got into a problem with the printers, i had uninstalled or deleted printer stuff when #2 broke before and when i moved all the printers to #1 things were fine. Now that i'm using #2 again also, I kould not fax from it. Easy solution seemed to be to move one printer back. These are all-in-ones with print-fax-scan functions. Not much problem there but I had to go through the accounting software and change a bunch of settings so each station prints to the korrect printers. It's kind of weird and if a printer set in it doesn't exist, it will print to the default but that doesn't work if its a fax, it will print instead of faxing. So I had to fool with that for a while and straighten out that mess. At my old work we used an old program that was provided to us, the whole State uses it, and it would print to the first printer on the list! It didn't make any difference which is the default, it ONLY prints to the first printer on the list!! That made it interesting when someone changed printers and there new one was no longer the first. It was a learning curve for the DIT folks and some never got it! Time to get a new cell phone. The cell kompany wants to give me one and upgrade the cell plan to a cheaper plan with more features. I'll be getting a 4G Android phone. Anyone else have 4G or some kind of Android ? I was going to get one because my current one, Verizon, doesn't work inside the buildings at my old work. I was going to switch providers and get a new phone at the same time. My old boss would email me stuff too and of with no cell phone coverage and no smart phone either I didn't get his messages. Now a lot of things are on hold for me, let us know how it goes though I here they are GREAT!! Randy that is GREAT news too, glad it is all working again!! WINNING!!

Time to get a new cell phone. The cell kompany wants to give me one and upgrade the cell plan to a cheaper plan with more features. I'll be getting a 4G Android phone. Anyone else have 4G or some kind of Android ? I considered getting a Smartphone/iPhone/Android...for about 3 seconds. I have absolutely no need for such a thing. My cell phone is for talking or (occasionally) texting. Nothing more. Next project on the quad I guess, is to replace the bad memory stick. I went out to the Crucial.com website and to get an RMA they want 20-zillion numbers. Luckily, most of them are on the memory stick...which is at home, not here. Well, sooner or later I'll get the system back up to snuff. Meanwhile I'm... WINNING!!!

Time to get a new cell phone. The cell kompany wants to give me one and upgrade the cell plan to a cheaper plan with more features. I'll be getting a 4G Android phone. Anyone else have 4G or some kind of Android ? Yeah Crucial was the ones I had blow recently, the one at work and the 2 at home. I had problems getting into my accounts so I called but they failed to email me the rma, i had to call or email again. then when my home ones blew I just filled out the contact customer service form and told them the info instead of filling out the rma form I could not access on my account. They did email me rma numbers. They did replace at no charge all the ram sticks, but contacting them was not smooth and i stil l cannot get into my accounts. One account i could access, the other i could not. I told them and they reset the wrong account and stuck my home email address on it, now i can;t get into either. I think they lost a customer because i'm tired of trying to expalon it in black and white. Since I now have my spares in the systems, I think i leqave them and keep the crucial rams as my spares. The lifetime warranty is nice but this has been a pain to deal with. As for a new phone, I don't really need one, but new features are kool. My kurrent phone has a low res kamera. My old one had a better kamaera and my digital kamera was better, but it eats batteries in less than a day, even off. So I don't take a lot of pictures, but I could with a better kamera and the new one is four times better than anything i got, but why carry a phone and a kamera. Also I can use it at work for my internet sales as i need good photos of product. Next there's the wi-fi link. I could use that when traveling to konnect my netbook via wi-fi to the net through the phone. When i visit my parents they still only have dial-up, no place for me to jack in or connect. Problem solved there. I also like the apps feature. I can put some on my kurrent phone but its got a small screen. There's one i could make use of from my bank, but its only avaialble on iphone or android, which i don't have. I do a lot of message receiving with my kurrent phone and to set reminders with alarms. I don't own any watches anymore, i just use the phone. It has built in GPS with maps and directions. Kan't get lost and no need to buy a another gps or karry one. it's all in one small device. Then there's a bunch of kool stuff to play with, nice extras. Maybe stuff like speech to text. Would be kool for message board surfing and replies. maybe i can announce the new winner that way. It does about everything but make koffee.

Morning shift on deck and... Thanks for announcing me as the winner this morning! John my RAC is up to 319,138 this morning, although I did 380,259 yesterday. Keith I am knocking on wood here but over the years I have bought lots of different kinds of memory and only 1 stick has gone bad. I still have it and should throw it away but I just haven't. Yes it is crucial memory but no I don't have the receipt so no it can't be replaced under warranty. Now when I buy stuff I keep the receipts, but back then I did not. I have had other peoples memory go bad on them and I ended up buying new stuff and replacing it for them though, we usually upgraded the total size of the ram at the same time.

Morning shift on deck and... I bought mine direct so they had a record on the internet, sort of, if they did not mix up my email addresses so i could log in. As far as receipts I now keep digital copies of everything. I have paper copies of a lot of old stuff, and I mean back into the 80's. One thing I'm trying, slowly, Is to scan some of those, make sure the item is in a database and then recycle the paper. It makes it easier to find digital copies, takes up less space in the kloset and is not as much of a fire hazard. So its a win-win-win situation. On to the next problems. I broke my new tap on my keg, sort of, it broke loose some and leaks. In my test i filled it to check for leaks, but i had no hose to attach to drain it so i used a watering wand which i had the kwick kouplers on so it fit the tap and gave enough length to put a short bucket on the stair below it, but the tap wiggled some and i kracked the adhesive, so now it leaks. More sealant needed now that i got it drain and drying off. I'll get it right one day. I've got to order some more short hoses and the ones I got last time werre 15 feet. I'll get some more of those, they are about 10 bucks each. They are easier to lug around than a 50 footer when I only need to go a short distance. I orginally bought 5 and used all in my konstruction to get water up to my deck and then back to the garden. One was suppsoe to be a spare, but I ended up using all of them and could use more length, so I'll get one for the barrel and a kouple more spares. Next is my new keyboards at work here. I had problems with the mice acting up when i plugged the receiver into the hub or the hub on the hub. At home same setup works fine and never a mistype or mouse problem. Here every once and a while this keyboard would kick into repeat some odd key, like if i pressed 0 it repeated ssssssssssss until i hit backspace. Other weirdities too and typos, letters or numbers my fingers were not even klose too. I was worried about it overtyping some data and me not ketching it or adding extra numbers to invoices, both things that are not good. So this morning i changed out the hubs on the two systems to a different brand four porter. So far typing this message it hasn't goofed up yet, other than my normal typo's because i'm still not 100% use to these and my new layout. I went back to my original plan for neat arrangement. the hub plugs in the back of the komputa. Into that I have 1 or 2 printers of the 3 depending on system. Then also is a mini numeric keypad with 2 ports. I then plug the usb keyboard into the keypad and the mouse receiver into the keypad, so there are less wires running across the desk and the receiver is klose to the mouse for good reception. Remember this is an electronics shop and interferrance can be a problem sometimes with all the gadgets we got. So we'll see how the day goes on if it was the hubs causing the problem. Things worked better when i didn't have the chain of things set up, but i didn't like the arrangement of kables or used ports. And like I said an almost identical setup at home, never caused an error, only difference being the hub brand and komputa, the keypads and keyboards are the same brands. Well time to begin some work. Still looking for a winner, keep trying.

Poke then BUMP John you KNOW what happens when you poke people! My RAC right now is up to 322,331!!! That is up 4,000 just from this morning!!! Keith you know it is summer time and alot of people are throwing stuff out, you should be able to find some old hoses in the trash around town, cut them to length and put your own ends on cheaper than 10 bucks per hose! Those ends are easy to use and cheap!!
| ID: 13051 | Rating: 0 | rate:

Poke then BUMP Unfortunately digging through peoples trash is not my style. We ahve clsoed bins you roll out roadside, so you can't see whats in them. Nothing can be left roadside except a week in April and A Week in October. It's not worth it to me to scrounge for these things. If we lived in a big city, maybe, but out here at the edge of the world we don't have much choice on some things. I'm fine with my bought hoses. What a day, its 90F plus out there, good thing i work inside, although I never did get my A/C in the kar fixed. Giood thing its a short trip. Only took me 16 minutes to get home, and that included dodging visitors, aka morons. I got through the day with my new keyboard arrangement on those different hubs, not a single extra letter, abtch of letters of spazmo mouse on either system. I'm guessing the problem was the other hubs. Also the other komputa at work, the old Point of Sale station, after I changed LCD screens to a smalelr one and then got rid of the bad cable so it did not have the jitters has been fine since. It has not even krashed on me. I got rid of some other krud other people put on it too. No one else is allowed to use it now since I konfiscated it. More problems fixed. Still on the list is to try to power up the old antiques. I've got them out of the kar, brought home an old 5 pin, large style, keyboard. I forgot to bring that old 14in CRT but i've got one in my kloset too. I paly with them this weekend, i'm just curious if the even work after 13 years of sitting in the stale air. If I kan i'll check the drives and erase any data, then maybe i'll drop them off the deck onto the driveway while they are still spinning, that should kill 'em. I was going to keep some parts, but nothing in them is really usable unless i keep the whole system. The other is a pentium mmx, it did ahve pci but its probabbly 1.0 specs and really slow, so i'm gonna scrap it all. Good new, i saw a non-green tomato or two. there are three with a slight orange twinge to 'em and one big huge bell pepper is turning red which is good as i need one this weekend for a homemade pizza. I got the pizza stone and all. I roll out my own dough. Usually I like to keep it simple, dough, tomatoes, cheese and bell pepper and then basil, but i can add fresh grown oregno this year. The cheese is the only thing i don't make or grow. Altough this time i'm gonna have to use kanned tomatoes as the fresh ones arn't ready yet. I though of sausage too thsi time as I have some I need to use up. Keep trying to WIN and no poking Mikey, we don't want to loose any kontestants :)

The only problem I had with my topsy turvy last year was the watering of it, it required me to put water into a jug and then water it, the rest of my plants I can water direct from the hose off the rain barrel. I liked it and it will still work, I just didn't have enough plants this year to use it. Keith said "Keep trying to WIN and no poking Mikey, we don't want to loose any kontestants :)" That's right! Keith I also think those old machines should be recycled or trashed depending on how your town does it. My local dump has a tech recycling day, actually 2 of them per week. Every Monday and Wednesday you drive up, they unload your tech stuff and you drive off, no questions and no problems! They also have a 'too good to throw away' section where you drive up, unload whatever yourself and then drive away. There are usually people with pick-ups sitting there just waiting for stuff. I took a 400 pound 220 volt printer there one time that was given to me but I didn't want to mess with, and they took it right out of my truck and onto theirs with no problems. John my RAC is now 324,102! WINNING!!

I'm melting. Kar said it was 108F when i left work, that is on the outside. It did drop some on the way home, to 107F. I didn't check the temp when I got home, but now an hour later my outdoor unit shows 96F. I watered the plants and drank a large glass myself, now i think i'll take a shower and stay inside the rest of the evening. Remember too this is not even July, It is suppose to get hotter around here in July and August.

Oops, look like I downloaded 84-WUs to my quad system. With E@H running too, I might be hard pressed to complete everything. The farthest E@H WUs are due 7/8/2010. I'm setting NNT on both 'til they get worked down a bit and I know nothing is going to go over deadline.

John today I am 326,441 for my RAC. I went to lunch yesterday with some friends from my old work, we used to go out every other Friday but now that I don't work there anymore we haven't been in a while. It was hot, hot, HOT yesterday, it was in the upper 90'sF, not like Keith's 100's though, and I was roasting! yes the a/c in my car was on but it was STILL HOT!! My next door neighbor got his new windows in his whole house yesterday, he was sweating at 9:30 AM!!! A company came in and did it and he turned the a/c off because one group took the windows out and then another group of guys was installing them. It took less time to take them out then put in the new ones so there was a bit of a lag there. After all the windows were out the guys started helping the installer guys so then it went much quicker. All the windows, around 15, were down yesterday and he is happy and cooler!! Today it supposed to only get into the low 90's so I may have to mow this morning after the F1 practice that starts at 8AM. I almost forgot...while at lunch I bought some bagels for breakfast, French Toast flavored ones!!! They smell sooooooooooooooooooooooo good and taster just as good!!! I have bought them before but yesterday they had 7 left after lunch, so I bought all of them!! They taste just like french toast, I have resisted the temptation to pour syrup all over them though!! I usually put some cream cheese or just butter on them! I bring them home, package them up in baggies and then freeze them. Then when I want one I just thaw it in the microwave and then toast it. Right now I am WINNING and getting ready to make myself a French Toast bagel for breakfast!!

Crunching with 43 new WUs in the caches, but the quads seem to be getting a lot of". I guess that means I am not winning as well as I thought?

Crunching with 43 new WUs in the caches, but the quads seem to be getting a lot of". I guess that means I am not winning as well as I thought? Yeah I just posted in the other thread about one of my machines that is having errors but some units work fine and then it works okay again! That makes no sense, nothing was done in between except maybe a Prime Grid unit. That makes me winning!

Looks like you're getting the same type of errors I am on my quad...max disk usage exceeded. I think it might be a parameter in the WU itself telling BOINC the max size of the output file allowed. However, I'm not a BOINC-spert by any means. WINNING!!!

The error seemed to be disk availability, or allowance, related. Now the error seems to be for other reasons.
