We have now organized the migration to the new server. This will cause some downtime, the system is likely to be down for a few hours starting 14.30 CET today, 19.12.06.
We have tested the new system as thoroughly as possible, but it is still conceivable that we will experience a few problems. Please feel free to point out problems on the message boards.
Note that the move requires a change to the DNS entry for malariacontrol.net, it is therefore possible that some of you will not be able to connect to the new server immediately (We will keep an eye on the old server for some time).
Thanks
Nick

Well done Nick (and of course the less visible assistants!).

I hardly noticed a thing. ;-)
Still waiting for most of my boxes to check in, but I have not seen any problems with the ones which have.

Way to go. :)

Starting 6hrs ago BOINC fails on all uploads. I tried a ping on malariacontrol.net

ping malariacontrol.net

Pinging africa-home1.unige.ch [192.33.217.12] with 32 bytes of data:

Destination host unreachable.
Destination host unreachable.
Destination host unreachable.
Destination host unreachable.

Ping statistics for 192.33.217.12:
Packets: Sent = 4, Recieved = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss).

A BOINC update gives;

20/12/2006 6:55:45 AM|malariacontrol.net beta|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
20/12/2006 6:55:45 AM|malariacontrol.net beta|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)
20/12/2006 6:55:55 AM|malariacontrol.net beta|Scheduler request failed: HTTP file not found
20/12/2006 6:55:55 AM|malariacontrol.net beta|Deferring scheduler requests for 43 minutes and 58 seconds

I have tried to flush the DNS resolver cache as well...time to wait for my isp to update their cache.

I can however post here.....

I have to go to work in an hr or so and I\'ll run out of work before I get home if BOINC cannot connect while I\'m away and SETI is down for their weekly back-up! One of those days to grin and bare it while my computers sit and do nothing for a few hours if the DNS change flow through takes a while!

What\'s the new IP address?

Live long and BOINC!

The server looks to be working fine, but I guess it just needs time for your part of the world to catch up. Hopefully everything will be OK by the time you get home from work.

LOL. Look on the bright side, you\'re primed in case LHC decides to release a bunch of work!!

What\'s the new IP address?

Same IP as in your post as far as I can see.

Anyone got the IP address of a DNS resolver I can use? I still can\'t upload/download/contact the new server!

[edit] Forget that....I flushed my dns cache and stopped and restarted BOINC and all came good.

It looks like most of us have made it over here, welcome again!
I\'m sorry we could not announce the exact date for the migration a bit earlier, but it was quite difficult to find a slot when all the required staff could be present at the same time. We then had to move quickly in order to make it happen before the upcoming holidays.
We have not seen any major problems on the new system up to now, but there are still a few events we need to see happen for the first time. It\'s quite likely, for example, that the stats reported on the various stats sites will look strange once the exports are picked up from here. So once again, if you see problems, please let us know!
Thanks
Nick

All of a sudden i\'m getting an error that\'s no letting me turn in my completed units. \" Scheduler request failed:HTTP file not found\" I\'ve never had this problem before. All of my work is complete but I can\'t turn these in or apparently get more.

Did you read what I did?

I think just stopping and starting BOINC does the trick.

All went well, but all boinc stats did not, one example, no gain, no pain !

They went through sometime today. No reboot. Just restarted BOINC. It happened after I left for work today so I cant give a timeframe other than between my two posts.
