After a few intense days of testing the new application version, we have now promoted the C++ implementation to be our main science application. A big thank you to all of you who contributed during this time by running (and often crashing) workunits, and to those who provided most helpful feedback on the message boards!

This new application version includes implementation of a number of new models for the transmission and effect of malaria parasites. Well describe this in a bit more detail in the next update. These models all need to be parameterized, and we will therefore need quite a lot of computing power over the next few months. We will therefore open project signup for new users soon.

A few weeks ago, the article on the simulation of the cost-effectiveness of malaria vaccines was published in MalariaJournal. This is the analysis of the results of the simulations that we ran last summer. We predicted the comparative cost-effectiveness of a number of possible future malaria vaccines when delivered through a number of conceivable delivery systems. You can read the full article here:

Tediosi F, Maire N, Penny MA, Studer A, Smith TA. Simulation of the cost-effectiveness of malaria vaccines. Malaria Journal 2009, 8:127

Thanks
Nick

It looks like the work is flowing pretty good now. Has account creation been turned back on yet?

Yes, we have enabled account creation again, and are currently using the main application to fit a number of new models. More information will follow shortly in the next update.
