My old Linux server gets way too many WUs. With so many WUs it is impossible to reach the deadlines for basically every WU.

I've configured the (headless) server using BAM stats to have no buffer at all.

Anyone an idea what is going wrong, or how this can be fixed?

Is this still the case? The BOINC server should always try to keep enough work available for the next 24 hours or so; I don't know whether BAM can override that. The estimated run times could be a little off when new application versions are released, etc., but should sort themselves out (they should have by now).

It did not improve in the last 20 days. My server was almost never able to meet any deadlines, so I now took it out because it was working purposely on tasks that would timeout anyway. It got tasks for like 5 days, while the settings said no buffer.

BAM has caused issues in the past, can you make your changes on the website, this is global so ALL pc's would be affected, and see if that fixes it?
These are the two lines you would be looking at under Computing Preferences and then Network Usage:
Computer is connected to the Internet about every
Leave blank or 0 if always connected.
BOINC will try to maintain at least this much work. --- days
Maintain enough work for an additional 0.25 days

Those are my settings and I just got 6 units in my cache after coming back after a 2 week vacation. This is on a dual core laptop using only 1 core and each unit taking 6 hours, so no the numbers are not right for me either.

Thanks, mikey! That seems to help! Before, I tried to manage the project via the BAM! account manager and directly on the machines config files, which both didn't work. Apparently the config on this site is different from both others and has priority.

Yeah BAM sometimes has issues and sometimes works perfectly, I do not know the rhyme or reason for it but it could be a project thing. One thing though if you have multiple machines and want different settings for each you will need to make the changes thru the Boinc Manager on each machine, website changes will spread to all your other machines over the next few days. I do the website changes as a default and then set each machine as needed to tweak it to the way I like it.
