I want to reallocate the resources used by the projects I run. The Help files tell me to use Advanced/Preferences to do so; I have done so in the past but with my current version, 5.8.16, there is not a Preferences item under Advanced.

Nor does the Help file tell me how I can check for any updates to the BOINC manager.

Any suggestions please.

The Advanced preferences menu is only available under the 5.10 range and above.
What you may have done was manually write your global_prefs_override.xml file in your BOINC directory.

To check up on new BOINC downloads, go to the source. Bookmark http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php and if you want to check other possible downloads, click on the All versions link on the site.

I have downloaded the latest version from the site you quoted, thank you. It appears that the resource share allocation among projects on my PC has to be done online by going to each account in turn (as necessary); which seems very strange to me as it would be more relevant to do it on the PC rather than going to each account in turn (if necessary).

Anyway, I have adjusted the allocation as I want it, thank you for your help.
