1) Message boards : Number crunching : Incredibly low integer speed (Message 2371) Posted 2201 days ago by shauge I\'m still kind of wondering about the HT. What benchmarks do you get if you disable HT in the BIOS? I don\'t have the machine at hand, I run this machine remotely. I went for the suggestion at the end of your post ;) |
2) Message boards : Number crunching : Incredibly low integer speed (Message 2362) Posted 2202 days ago by shauge I will try the 5.8.15 this evening. The 5.8.15 did not make any difference. My Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9] machine has dual channel enabled according to CPU-Z and is also overclocked from FSB 200 to FSB 214, i.e. 3.2GHz. Still the FP speed is 1320 and integer speed is 1291. In the earlier referenced WU it is claiming 44% less credit than the other intel P4 CPU. I don\'t think this is fair. |
3) Message boards : Number crunching : Incredibly low integer speed (Message 2361) Posted 2202 days ago by shauge The common denominator in these two cases is the core_client version. You and I use the <core_client_version>5.8.11</core_client_version>, but those who get higher integer speed uses the older <core_client_version>5.4.11</core_client_version>. I will try the 5.8.15 this evening. I have dual channel enabled chipset and two RAM modules. I will also check that dual channel is not disabled i BIOS :) |
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Incredibly low integer speed (Message 2357) Posted 2203 days ago by shauge Look at this workunit https://malariacontrol.net/workunit.php?wuid=1685975 Here a 2.4 GHz P4 have higher integer speed than my 3.0 GHz, 2209 compared to 1291, but still uses longer time than mine. And because of the higher speedrating is claiming more credits. The common denominator in these two cases is the core_client version. You and I use the <core_client_version>5.8.11</core_client_version>, but those who get higher integer speed uses the older <core_client_version>5.4.11</core_client_version>. Something in the Boinc benchmarks has changed. Do anybody know anything about this? |
5) Message boards : Number crunching : Incredibly low integer speed (Message 2356) Posted 2203 days ago by shauge Hi, I have a 3.0GHz Northwood [x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9] doing 1320/1291 fp/interer speed and several 3.2 ones [x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 3] doing 1400/1700 fp/integer speed. All is running with HT enabled. That compares well with what you originally got. It would be interesting to know how we can improve our integer speed by a factor of 2.6. |
