I am noticing a significant number of computation errors on work units - perhaps approaching 10%. These are showing up after processing for as little as 10 minutes and in some cases after an hour or so.

I've seen then on various workstations running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 in both 32 and 64 bit.

I am assuming others are seeing them as well. Any comments on this?

OK -- thanks for the information, I thought that was the case here.

Based on the response here, I figure computation errors have not been observed by anyone else or whatever admins linger about.

That being the case, I've resolved my problem with Malaria work units that generate computation errors after running for some period of time (10 to 40 minutes).

Your errors seem to be with the current beta version and a number of users have been reporting errors in the openMalaria test version v6.63 thread.

According to my BoincView logs I'm getting a failure rate of around 5% for that application version. The breakdown is:

  • 2340 successfully completed tasks
  • 65 tasks failed with exit status 74 (Error: initialKappa is invalid)
  • 3 tasks failed with exit status 72 (Error: effectiveEIR is not finite: 1.#QNAN)
  • 2 tasks aborted by the project.
  • 55 tasks aborted by me (the workunits showed they were reissued after exit status 74 failures on other computers).

This application version was released on 16th March and there's been no response from the project team on the reported errors.

Don't the project crew receive an automatic message for erroneous work-units?

Anyway, I have had a computation error code 72/74 every seventh task or so from the beta.

Thanks for the informative replies -- I guess I should adjust work accepted to not take in the beta tasks. We all probably generated enough information should the admins and programmers have the need.

Yea, if you care about credits and/or consecutive valid tasks, then an application in beta is not for you. :P

I also see errors, just don't read the board sufficiently often. Two 74 errors in the last couple of days. 6.63 test version.

I assumed this would have been fixed by now so opened it again last night. Alas I was wrong. Another row of errors, (74's).
